Computers & Technology Firms Catch Investors' Hearts With Web

The Web site often is perceived as a mirror of a company, says Jeffrey Parker, chief executive of Boston-based Corporate Communications Broadcast Network LLC. CCBN is one of a growing number of developers that create and manage investor relations Web sites for corporations.
"More and more corporations are using the Web to provide information to people who have never known anything about a company," Parker said.CCBN revamped Analog's investor relations Web site, adding financial spreadsheets, balance sheets and stock charts. CCBN hosts the investor relations portion of Analog's Web site and handles all of the updates. The changes seemed to appease Analog's shareholders almost right away.
"We got a lot less calls after that," said the company's Fishbeck.
Dollars and cents aside, CCBN's Parker says most companies pay for the service so they don't have to worry about it.
"Companies need to be focused on why they are in business," he said.
